Explanation:

James Aquaprobe ™ represents a turning point in modern moisture measurement technology. Aquaprobe ™ can determine soil moisture content of different soil types and other fine aggregates using the latest microwave and microprocessor technology. Place five nails in the soil to be measured and review the percentage of moisture on the screen. A special guide has been prepared to help the user insert the ends into particularly dense soil. The Aquaprobe ™ microwave Soil Moisture Meter uses a five-nail sensor to measure the complex dielectric constant of the material enclosed by four tabs on the outside. Because the dielectric constant of water is four to eight times greater than most natural soil types, changes in water content directly affect sensor output. This output is then converted by the integrated microprocessor, and the moisture content is displayed directly as a percentage of the dry weight. An average of five to ten readings are normally made to ensure a valid reading, especially since water is not evenly distributed for many types of material. The basic system comes pre-calibrated for weak clay, Silt, sand (Ottawa sand and SP sand) and general silty sandy soil types. These soils represent the most common species. This makes the basic system an economic choice when assessing soil moisture levels. The full system includes equipment for creating custom calibration curves for different soil types. The device can be programmed by the user into up to ten different materials. For the highest accuracy, the device must be programmed for the material being tested. It comes with easy-to-use Windows ™ software to calibrate the device to a variety of materials. Finally, the Aquaprobe ™ device can store more than 150 values. Storage is performed by entering the time and date, as it may be needed in the future. Data can be transferred via USB to a computer with the Windows ™ operating system.
