WHY SHOULD WE HAVE A STRUCTURE PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS STUDY?

Our country is at risk from earthquake disasters. In the past years, there have been many major earthquakes in different regions and as a result, many lives and property were lost. Especially considering that the recent earthquakes in the Maraş region physically affected the surrounding 12 provinces, it is clearly seen that not only the center point of the earthquake but also the surrounding provinces are at risk.

In addition, it is seen that the flow of life is negatively affected due to the condition of public buildings damaged by the earthquake and institutions have difficulty in carrying out their activities.

All these losses can be prevented by taking early precautions.
The earthquake resistance of buildings can be measured with Building Performance Analysis (Earthquake Analysis). Whether the buildings are at risk of earthquake or not, if there is a risk, determining its degree and what precautions can be taken are revealed as a result of earthquake performance analysis.

If there is a risk in this direction in the structure:

The strengthening project will ensure that the building complies with the current 2018 Turkish Building Earthquake Regulation. Thus, the risks caused by all these losses are eliminated with a much lower cost.

What are the differences and benefits of Non-Destructive Systems and Academic Study Content (Structural Performance Analysis)?

  • In works carried out with destructive systems, that is, taking core samples from concrete and concrete stripping and reinforcement inspections, the structure may be unintentionally seriously damaged. In non-destructive systems, concrete control is carried out by Windsor Probe and Ultrasonic Sound tests, and reinforcement control is provided by x-rays. Thus, no physical damage occurs in the building other than the removal of plaster in certain working areas. In this way, carrier systems are not exposed to any damage.
  • Since the buildings to be examined will be in active use, serious obstacles will arise in destructive systems. There is no chance to work actively while operations are being carried out in the environment. However, in non-destructive systems, there is no situation that would prevent working in the environment. Since the operations will be non-destructive, the renovation process progresses very quickly both during and after the operations and does not hinder the work.
  • In destructive systems, very limited information is collected while checking the minimum number of carrier elements selected in the floors to be examined. The process progresses with an acceptance of the limited information collected from all carriers on the floor. In studies carried out with non-destructive systems, since the processes are fast and undamaged, many carrier elements on the floor are checked, so the information collected after the study is not limited but detailed. This is very important for the accuracy and security of the analysis.
  • The data collected as a result of the examinations carried out in general applications are evaluated with simple software common in the sector and the analysis results are created according to these data. In an analysis involving academic study, special software is selected and used according to need and in the right areas, so that the collected data is analyzed more accurately and the healthiest and most accurate results are achieved. Accurate and rapid collection of data, as well as correct interpretation and reporting of the results obtained by using the right software in the right way, with academic knowledge, are also very important for the success of the process.
