This apparatus has been designed to allow students to make an experimental study of flow though permeable media.
Using two dimensional models of hydraulic structures supported on sand foundations it is possible to determine flow lines, seepage rates and the distribution of uplift pressure.
These experimentally obtained results may then be compared with those given by analytical methods available for solving these problems.
